Thanks Daniel but I don't see any such "knob" - and none is mentioned in
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/docs/en/html/userpreferences.html.

Thanks for the explanations.
I still think it is a very user-unfriendly design decision. Users [and
possibly even developers] should not have to be aware of such documented
humor.
Nevertheless, I'll drop the issue since it seems well-ingrained.
