When a new network of routers is encountered, the nodes on the topology page are initially placed on a line. The d3 library's force graph then moves them into n configuration (which can then be adjusted by the user).

That initial layout is a bit messy when there are more than 4 nodes.

It would be cleaner to initially layout the nodes in a circle. The d3 library could then discover a more pleasing layout.
