Getting Started Guide status

I just pushed the first pass of revisions to most of the remaining chapters
of the Getting Started guide, The only documents I have not worked on yet
are AOO41GS8 (the Base chapter), AOO41GS13 (covers Open Source, Open
Standards & Open Document. I am considering dropping all or most of it),
and AOO41GS14, which is just the alphabetical index. The Base chapter needs
more extensive revision than any other chapter and I will start on that
next. I expect it will take me a few days to complete the first pass.

I am unsure what the status is of Keith's work setting up issues and
discussion on Github. Should I post anything there?

Francis;

Part of the "Apache Way" is to give due credit to people that do the
work. That is how you gain merit and that merit is how one can gain
committer status. Right now I am the only committer active on
documentation, therefore it is incumbent on me to make sure that anyone
that contributes in any way gets the recognition that they deserve.

Keith,
Thanks for tracking my contributions in the comments. Getting credit isn't
a huge deal but I do appreciate the effort. I'm definitely not a committer.
Back when the project came to ASF, it was decided not to give committer
status to forum moderators, which is certainly reasonable, and I haven't
been much of a presence on the dev list since then.

I was afraid of that Francis. You are not a committer for OpenOffice or
at least if you are you haven't gone through the process of linking your
GitHub account. I could not even assign you to the ones I did for your
other chapters. I will update the one you did with a comment so you get
credit for the work.

Keith,
I opened an issue for updating AOO41GS8 but it seems I do not have the
status needed to assign it.. I am actually well into the revision but there
are a lot of changes, so I will have to spend more time on it.

I am going to set up Issues for all but the 2 documents that you mention
and start the review cycle. When you start on the other 2 Open an issue
and assign it to yourself and assign it to the project board. If you
have difficulties Let me know. Unfortunately this process is still a
work in progress. Hopefully between all of us we can get it smoothed out.

Francis;

I completed the set up for those weeks ago and an announcement of that
should have been sent here. If not I apologize.

A quick procedure would be for each one you download you add an issue.
On the side panel of the new issue window self assign it to yourself and
set the Projects to open-office-docs which should be the only one available.
When you submit the issue it will assign it to the TO do column of the
project board. When it is ready to be reviewed open a PR and that will
move it into the In process section of the board. I will commit it back
to the review folder and another member of the team can review it and
make comments so be sure track changes are on.
