[D] Is it worth considering binary JSON formats as well as plain JSON? [fory]
GitHub user pjfanning created a discussion: Is it worth considering binary JSON formats as well as plain JSON?
CBOR, MessagePack, Smile are examples.
If we support JSON, then supporting binary JSON gives a more performant option while it is a little less well supported by libs or frameworks than plain JSON.

BSON isn't used that widely, so I think we can hold off for now. Adding a high-performance implementation would require significant work and introduce additional maintenance overhead.
To reduce the work, we must introduce new abstraction which will have negative effect on performance.
