Preparing for 1.4

Gang:

With the holidays looming, I'd like to tag the 1.4 release in the next week
so we have time to test it, audit it, and vote on it before everyone
disappears.  If you have some time, it'd be good to start testing the demos
& tutorials to identify issues now - before we tag.  In the meantime, I'll
finish the last two tutorials that are on my plate and double check that the
LICENSE file is up-to-date.

If the release vote passes before the holidays, we'll hold off on releasing
the artifacts until we launch the new site and issue a press release.

Actually, since the tutorials haven't yet been fully migrated to XML, my
email may have been a bit premature (since any tutorials that haven't yet
been migrated will not be worth testing).  Sorry for the false start :)
