WHIRR-214 and its sub tasks WHIRR-342 and WHIRR-266

Hi all.

I'm currently looking into WHIRR-214 which is concerned with adding
nodes to running clusters.

After some discussion with Andrei, we've concluded that issues
266(Separation of install and config scripts) and 342(
Hadoop/hbase configuration and active roles on a node) are subtasks of
resolving 214.

I was wondering what the status of both 266 and 342 are?

Best

I'll try to look at WHIRR-294 next week, but feel free to take it over
and I can review.

I agree. When this batch of work is done (plus WHIRR-276, if possible)
we should do a release.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom -

Thanks for the info. Karel updated the patch for WHIRR-342 today and added
some more
tests (and that should also cover WHIRR-337).

Jhey is now working on adding Riak as a service and this should also help
him to get
a better understanding of the code base and of the Apache way of doing
things.

I will start to look into WHIRR-295 as soon as possible. Do you think you
have some
free cycles to refresh / finish WHIRR-294? I can takeover if that it's not
possible.

BTW it's been a while since the last release and I think we should start
to wrap things
up and push a new one, now as a TLP.

What do you think?

Cheers,

That would be a very useful feature to add.

WHIRR-294 (Separate Hadoop install and configuration scripts into more
generic functions) has a patch which wouldn't need much to get it
working. I was waiting for WHIRR-337 before completing WHIRR-294, but
feel free to take this one over if you like. The equivalent for HBase,
WHIRR-295 doesn't have a patch, but it would be straightforward to
write it, since it's similar to the Hadoop one.

WHIRR-342 (hadoop/hbase configuration & active roles on a node) is
pretty close I think. Karel might be able to comment further.

Cheers,
Tom
