[jira] [Commented] (BIGTOP-924) Change the aggregation log directory default in shipped configs to be more intuitive (about local vs. DFS)

Roman Shaposhnik commented on BIGTOP-924:
-----------------------------------------

The original intent actually *was* to make HDFS look and feel like a Linux fs (principle of least surprised to DevOps). This is too late for 0.6.0, but if we were to reconsider I'd appreciate a more extended discussion on the mailing list (perhaps even CCed to general@hadoop ?)

> The {{yarn.nodemanager.remote-app-log-dir}} current default is set to a "/var/log/hadoop-yarn" form of a typical Linux service, local log path; although the real intention of this property is to create one on the HDFS.
> We should probably change it to "/hadoop-yarn/app-logs/" to make the difference clear.
