> Key: SPARK-11575

> Affects Versions: 1.5.1
> Environment: Windows 8 64 bit
> Java 8
> Reporter: Ali Beydoun

> Working with Spark 1.5.1 in Java/Windows environment. Started with SQLContext, everything works perfectly. Converted to HiveContext, now I get a NullPointerException on this line
> SessionState.java (599):
> FsPermission currentHDFSDirPermission = fs.getFileStatus(rootHDFSDirPath).getPermission();
> Even though the directory exists and has the right permissions (777), the code fails to call getPermission(). It seems that the fs.getFileStatus call is not casting to the correct type (FileStatus), and making the getPermission() call return s a NullPointerException.
