servlet-api.jar

Hi,

I'm trying to track down the license for servlet-api.jar. I always thought it was the Sun Public License (or whatever it's called), but can't find that. I've also seen that some people get it from Tomcat and thus claim ASL.

I know we use it all over the place at the ASF and I found several ASF sites that say the license is unknown (http://www.google.com/search?q=servlet-api-2.4.jar+license&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a -- Commons EL comes up first for me and then Commons FileUpload)

Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks,
Grant

It isn't quite that simple for the the servlet-api JARs from the Tomcat
project. For the current versions:
Tomcat 5.5.x / Servlet 2.4 / Fully ALv2
Tomcat 6.0.x / Servlet 2.5 / Fully ALv2
Tomcat 7.0.x / Servlet 3.0 / Mainly ALv2 with some CDDL for some XSDs

If you want more detail for the Tomcat provided JARs, the Tomcat users
list is the place to ask. For any other JARs, I recommend that you ask
the project that produces them.

Mark

Question: *Which* servlet-api.jar? There are various, created by
different organizations, including Sun (in which case Sun Public
License) sounds likely and ASF, in which case they are ASL'ed. If you
search for the latter, then

    http://repo2.maven.org/maven2/tomcat/servlet-api/ (Servlet API 2.4)
    http://repo2.maven.org/maven2/org/apache/tomcat/servlet-api/
(Servlet API 2.5)
    http://repo2.maven.org/maven2/org/apache/tomcat/tomcat-servlet-api/
   (Servlet API 3.0)

might be good places.
