[jira] [Commented] (DIRSTUDIO-1201) How does checking the "read-only" flag change the connection/authentication bind?

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRSTUDIO-1201?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16719379#comment-16719379 ]

Emmanuel Lecharny commented on DIRSTUDIO-1201:
----------------------------------------------

A question: you get a 'invalid credentials' when testing the connection in the same screen ? If so, know that if you are using the latest revision (2.0.0-M14), there is a bug in this check that almost most of the time results in such an error (the co,nnection timeout is set to 30ms instead of 30s).

So this error might be decorelated from the read-only flag, which may be in force when using the browser itself.

> In the Connection dialog box, there's an option for "read-only". On a LDAP server that I was trying to connect to, if this "read-only" is not checked, the connection failed with -49 invalid credentials.
> I'm trying to understand programmatically where/how this is done when using the Apache Directory API.
> Thanks.
