Running Test Through Proxy

I am not able to run a simple test hitting yahoo.com, I have the following
configurations.
JMeter:
     HTTP Request Defaults
          WebServer
               IP: {my systems IP}
               port: 8080
          HTTP Request
               Protocol: HTTP
               Method: GET
               Path: http://www.yahoo.com/
Internet Browser:
     Proxy Settings
          address: {my systems IP}
          Port:8080

After these settings have been made, when I hit the "Start" button it
doesn't run (stop button is not highlighted). Are my configurations wrong?

Have you read the documentation about using the proxy server?
