Re: Streaming video

Posted by "seba.wagner@gmail.com" <se...@gmail.com>.
this will only pause the video locally.
You need to:
In the whiteboard object that is stored in the server side session, there
is a "video" object (similar to drawings, a whiteboard video has some meta
info stored in the server side session, any new user that enters the room
will load the session object of the whiteboards from the server).
This "video-object" needs a new flag: paused
If the user clicks on the "pause" button an event must be send from the
client to the server, update the flag "paused" in the server session's
"video-object" and broadcast a message to all connected users, that there
is an update of the "pause" flag (usually you send the whole session object
of the "video-object" and just change that "paused" flag to true).
Now every client must have handlers to react on changes to this flag.
Additionally when a new user enters the room, while the video is paused,
the video must be loaded but paused (and if the user clicks "un-pause" the
stream must continue on all whiteboards at the same time (this is a bit
more tricky cause a simply play will _not_ work as the user that enters the
room must seek to the place where the other users currently see the video).
Eventually it makes sense that if a new user enters the room, while the
video is paused, you first seek to the current position of the video and
then directly pause it, that way the new user also see's the same image in
the video and you can simply call "play" (or NetStream.pause(false)) on all
streams without checking the timestamp first.

So there is a bit more work involved here then simple start/stop the video
:)
=> You have to sync all users
=> You need to take care that new users that enter the room see the same
thing everybody does
=> "Unpausing" the video must show the same position in the video on all
screens.

Re: Streaming video

Posted by RM P <by...@gmail.com>.
Hi Sebastian,

I did little investigations to see what code changes are required. I would
appreciate your inputs on the following. Can you please let me know your
views on further implementations. Appreciate your feedback. thanks, Manohar

filename - > whiteboardvideoplayer.lzx

*calling "canvas.sendViaLocalConnection" with method name to play and stop
video.*
*Need to add pause method here.*

filename -> hibAdapter.lzx

*Need to implement a pause similar to what has been done for
"pauseRecordingPlayback"*
*    <method name="pauseRecordingPlayback" args="pauseBool">
     if($debug) Debug.write("pauseRecordingPlayback ");
        if (this.baseVideoStream == null) {
         if ($debug) Debug.warn("baseVideoStream is NULL");
            return;
        }
        this.baseVideoStream.pause(pauseBool);
    </method>*
