[patch] enabling solaris sparc atomics

The solaris specific version of the atomics seems to work for me in 
limiting testing. I'll try it on several different types of sparcs
to make sure it's hunky-dory

what I need from the list:
	* non 2.8 machines
	* non GCC

I'll commit this on wednesday otherwise.
