Tagging tree...

Here goes nothing. I never heard back about the 500 Server Error thing on
daedalus... if it turns out to be a showstopper we'll fix it later and
bump the tag.

+1 on making APACHE_2_0_22_dev tag a beta (from the APR side).

Compiles and works acceptably on Linux and Solaris.

We've got some performance issues, but that shouldn't stop it from being
a beta. Hopefully, by the next beta, we can have these issues
addressed.

The threaded MPM is a putrid mess, but we all know that. -- justin

If 2.0.22 works well enough for three committers to +1 it as a beta and
nobody to veto it, then it's a beta. Otherwise we fix it and try
desperately to get 2.0.23 to be beta-quality. I strongly hope that we
don't have to do that, and that 2.0.22 will be beta 2 for Apache 2.0.

We'll know the answer to that question within the next few days... but
it's looking good so far. =-)

Builds and seems to work on Win32.

Will 2.0.22 be another ALPHA version, or is Apache 2 now beta?

Really?

Apache 2.0 is getting whupped by WebLogic (*Java EJB container*) on
Solaris 8 right now. I'll probably post some performance analysis
next week (no time right now - sorry). -- justin

Fix is in APR so if it doesn't break anything then I'm happy :)

FWIW, apache 2 went into some real world testing on beos bone a couple of
days ago and outperformed the other 2 web servers available for the platform
(both considered to be production-quality) both in terms of speed and
reliability. Only place it didn't get such rave reviews was configuration.

Some changes made in APR mean that make install is broken on beos and I
suspect on OS/2 as well... If it's going to be a beta it really should
install correctly...

Haven't had a chance to fix it yet but will try to look before going to
Philly.

It's running on daedalus as of Thursday, 26-Jul-2001 21:20:55 PDT. And
yes, the bug db & suexec are healthy.

...as APACHE_2_0_22_dev. Please check out that tag and make sure you can
build and run it on as many platforms as possible. If all goes well, I'll
bump the tag up to APACHE_2_0_22 and roll tomorrow, same bat time, same
bat channel.

Thanks,
