[jira] [Commented] (DERBY-3888) ALTER TABLE ... ADD COLUMN cannot add identity columns

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-3888?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13867651#comment-13867651 ]

Ari Maniatis commented on DERBY-3888:
-------------------------------------

This feature is quite important for us. Any chance that it might be included in the next release of Derby? We want to be able to add identify columns to existing tables.

If this is an easy feature to re-enable, it would be greatly appreciated.

> ALTER TABLE .. ADD COLUMN cannot be used to add an identity column. There is code to handle identity columns, but it is disabled in the parser. See this thread on derby-user:
> The code was disabled for DB2 compatibility. Since DB2 compatibility is not a goal for Derby, we should see if we could re-enable it.
