Off-topic: Java API for generating OpenOffice.org documents

Hi,

Does anybody know if there is a Java API available for generating
OpenOffice documents or not?

The OpenOffice API looks cool. It apparently supports something called
"filters" which allows one to save spreadsheets in other formats such
as Excel or other proprietary formats...

Yes, OpenOffice.org has one, but I don't know any details.
