[jira] [Commented] (AVRO-3707) Use avro-maven-plugin to generate avsc

Oscar Westra van Holthe - Kind commented on AVRO-3707:
------------------------------------------------------

This feature does not (yet) exist.

An alternative would be AVRO-3666, which would allow Avro to parse IDL files directly.

> avro-maven-plugin seems to only generate Java sources. I've tried the various goals but not found a way to output avsc from my avdl files even though this functionality is part of the avro-tools jar (using {_}idl2schemata{_}).
> I want to only maintain _.avdl_ files in source control and use maven to generate the avsc for uploading to a schema registry.
> Is this currently possible or does a new feature need to be added?
