ODT plugins - we should unify them

Hi all,

some other aired this concern before but latest user thread revealed
that we should reduce the number of plugins around OO.

Can't we unify them into one?

Hum, why do you want to deprecate this one ?
This is the current opendocument format used by OpenOffice.org.

That is fine with me. I pointed to whiteboard to point to place but your
suggestion is way better.

The code isn't legacy, the document format is simply dated. If the
code still works fine and is appropriate for that older format, then
it probably shouldn't be marked deprecated either. The whiteboard
seems inappropriate too - seems almost counter-intuitive to put it
there since whiteboard is generally for development work. Maybe we
ought to have another plugins directory called 'dormant' a la
Commons[1] as a nice place for old, working plugins to go for
retirement?

Personally I think the legacy code should be moved to whiteboard (with a
BIG Deprecated warning).

I can see:
plugins/org.apache.forrest.plugin.input.OpenOffice.org
whiteboard/plugins/org.apache.forrest.plugin.input.odt
whiteboard/plugins/org.apache.forrest.plugin.OpenOffice.org-output
whiteboard/plugins/org.apache.forrest.plugin.output.OOo

Which are we talking about, the OpenOffice.org output and the OOo output ?

If so , the first is OpenOffice v1 and second is OpenOffice.org V2 and is
based more on the OpenDocument format whereas version 1 is not.
One outputs sxw and the other outputs odt.

Despite the names, it would be like merging Word and Excel together.

I suppose we can put the stylesheets etc all under one roof, and be able to
output eiter sxw or odt depending on the users needs.

I need to concentrate on Version 2, rather than the 6 years obsolete version
1. But can look into it another time.
