   ### What problem does this feature solve?
   For example, it's often unclear from the time axis alone what year you are looking at when zoomed in to a particular month. This is not helped by setting the formatted to always display "year" since it causes a lot of clutter.
   
   I couldn't find a name for the type of feature I'm asking for but I found a link that explains it visually.
