OpenNLP 1.5.3 RC 3 ready for testing

Hi all,

Our third release candidate is ready for testing. RC 2 failed to pass in
only a few tests, including the creation of the issues list and the NOTICE
file. Also, some new bug fixes and improvements were recently included.

The RC 3 can be downloaded from here:
http://people.apache.org/~colen/releases/opennlp-1.5.3/rc3/

To use it in a maven build set the version for opennlp-tools or
opennlp-uima to 1.5.3, and for opennlp-maxent to 3.0.3, and add this URL to
your settings.xml file:
https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapacheopennlp-059/

The current test plan can be found here:
https://cwiki.apache.org/OPENNLP/testplan153.html

Please sign up for tasks in the test plan.

The release plan can be found here:
https://cwiki.apache.org/OPENNLP/releaseplanandtasks153.html

The RC contains quite some changes, please refer to the contained issue
list for details.

what is in 'Similarity' component now

Posted by Boris Galitsky <bg...@hotmail.com>.
On my side I would be very happy to have my 'Similarity' component inside OpenNLP 1.6.0 so I dont have to worry about maintaining separate project.
Just as a reminder of what it is now:
machine learning of parse results to assess relevance:- between individual sentences- between paragraphs of text, using coreferences, rhetoric structures and speech act theories of discourse.
with application in:- search- content generation- code generation- speech recognition support- taxonomy building- web mining for content pipeline
These application domains have worked for ebay.com for 2+years now.
integrated with- graph algorithms of jgrapht, to find maximum common sub-parse trees- Bing search engine API to support web mining
RegardsBoris

I thought the consensis was to have it ready for the 1.6.0 release.

Re: OpenNLP 1.5.3 RC 3 ready for testing

We release it separately from 1.5.3, it might be nice to make 1.5.3 a
minimum
requirement for it, since it needs the stemmer.

Anyway, I had a short off-list discussion with Boris about it, we don't
really know why
he can't produce a RC, for some reason it fails to upload the artifacts
to the staging
repository. I suggest that I will try to produce the first RC for him,
so he knows if its
a problem with his environment or with the poms.

If there are no concerns I will try to make the RC this week.

What about the similarity component? Should we build it only after the
1.5.3 release?

Are we ready to start with the release vote? The last important test
item that is missing
is checking the signatures, I can do that tonight.

The UIMA trainers are not tested, but they should be ok, as far as I
know they did not change,
the UIMA AEs were run during my PEAR bundle test.
