as in BIGTOP-1287, we have some sitting around bad formatting and other stuff....  lets do a global cleanup of formatting.  

anyone have good tools for this ?  I find it difficult with so many languages to get a good formatting workflow... maybe someone can suggest a good tool for it and put a patch in .   i can also help
