Ramesh Mani updated RANGER-1320:
--------------------------------
Summary: Ranger Hive Plugin Exception message correction (was: Ranger Hive Access Denied Message)

> Ranger Hive Plugin Exception message correction
> -----------------------------------------------
>
> Key: RANGER-1320
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/RANGER-1320
> Project: Ranger
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: Ranger
> Reporter: Raffi Abberbock
> Assignee: Ramesh Mani
>
> When accessing Hive with Ranger authorization (using the Ambari Hive View) an error message is returned when the user is denied access. If the user does not have access to the table, the error message will say the user does not have privileges on the table, and then it lists all the columns in the table. As a security precaution, if the user does not have access to the table we would not want them to know about the columns too. We may not even want to acknowledge the table exists at all.
> Is there a way to customize the error message returned by Ranger?
