RAM usage of Linux-based Tomcat server

Hi all

I have following questions about Linux-based Tomcat
server:

1. Is it possible to know how much RAM is used by
servlets by per domain basis?

2. Is it possible to specify the maximum RAM could be
used by per domain basis?

The domain is as example.com, my-domain.com, etc.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards
Sagara

honestly I don't see much value in measuring memory usage per servlet.

scalability is the aggregate effect of memory usage.

what I mean by that is this, "how much heap does the expected load
generate?" If you have one servlet that takes a ton of ram, but it
only gets 1 request every 10 minutes it shouldn't affect performance.

A servlet that doesn't use much memory may not be an issue, unless you
happen to get 100 concurrent requests on average 24/hrs a day. As
Yoav suggested, limiting the RAM by domain is probably best achieved
by having multiple tomcat instances. each with the proper heap
setting.
