One demo of Sun JDK 1.5 , Notepad.jar, cannot open directly in newest debug build.
"java -jar Notepad.jar" leads to crash, but "java -cp Notepad.jar Notepad" is OK
Other jar like FileChooserDemo.jar, Stylepad.jar, Java2Demo.jar, they are all OK.
There is stack trace:

Alexey, I mostly agree with the update. But if you try static void main, then RI just prints out "Main method not public.". Otherwise, RI throws NoSuchMethodError: main.
So, we should combine both patches. :)

The problem is relevant to all platforms.
If a class noted in Main-Class attribute in manifest is not public, its main method cannot be normally invoked.
