           Summary: <bean:write> format clause
           Product: Struts
           Version: Unknown
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: major
          Priority: P2
         Component: Documentation
        AssignedTo: dev@struts.apache.org
        ReportedBy: bruno.melloni@akuratus.com

This is probably a trivial documentation fix.

<bean:write> relies heavily on the format clause for formatting non-String
entries. How to use a format (either in the tag, or in the message resources)
is clearly explained.

What is not clear is the spec for format clauses. Examples can be found on the
net for dates and $ types, but it is nearly impossible to locate a complete
reference for the format clause "characters" and combination rules.

This probably already exists - somewhere - so all that is needed is a link in
the <bean:write> docs that points to it.

My guess is that this is a 10 minute job, assuming such docs already exist.
