[jira] [Commented] (ATLAS-4423) Impala lineage does not work

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ATLAS-4423?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17416507#comment-17416507 ]

Sharmadha S commented on ATLAS-4423:
------------------------------------

[~lrofer] , HMS hook is enabled and you are able to see the lineage for the external table from the HDFS Path.

Can you please check if Impala Atlas Hook is enabled at Impala configurations ?

HMS hook sends the DDL messages only. Impala Hook sends the lineage information.

> Good morning,
>
> I have Apache Atlas installed and have verified that if I create an impala table called "table A", I can see the entire lineage. I see that the impala table is related to the corresponding data in hive.
> However, if I now create a new table in impala called "table B" from table "table A", Apache Atlas shows the following lineage:
>
> Path Hive -> Process -> Table B
>
> instead of
>
> Path Hive -> Process -> Table A -> Process -> Table B
>
> Why is the full lineage missing? Is this normal, do I need to activate any settings?
>
> Thanks in advance,
