configuration question

I have 4 hosts, hostA, hostB, hostC, hostD.

I plan on hosting my data directory as follows:

hostA:
/data

hostB:
/somedata

hostC:
/data

hostD:
/blahBalh

Is it possible to give a "macro" for each host in the core-site.xml to say:

if (host=hostA):
  use /data as dfs.data.dir

if (host=hostB):
  use /somedata

if (host=hostC):
  use /data

if (host=hostD):
  use /blahBalh

I want to do this because I plan to share the same core-site-xml file

Usually what people do is use something like Puppet or cfengine and
build and deploy configurations from a template.
