We tend to have bad luck with bugs sneaking through in the mapred(uce) client libraries.

I think part of this might be a lack of tests which actually exercise the different parts of the code. We have at least one IT which runs a mapreduce job in local mode, but it doesn't use any of the nice features which the {{AccumuloInputFormat}} supports such as Iterator pushdown.

Write some basic "higher-level" tests using the MiniMRClientCluster that exercise some more features of the AccumuloInputFormat.
