You can't add a service to workflow if you don't have internet connection. It does not give any error on Xbaya GUI. On console you can see time out error for connection failure to people.apache.org

Little more details about the issue,
Occurs when trying to retrieve relevant schema files from schema urls (hosted in apache) to validate the application service definition. This happens at time of composition, loading & execution of workflows.
1. The error message is misleading ("The component is in wrong format")
2. We shouldn't assume that the workflow composer/reader/executor will have Internet connectivity at the time of composition/loading/execution
