[jira] Created: (FELIX-693) Improve error handling for
ResolverImpl.deploy() method
Improve error handling for ResolverImpl.deploy() method
-------------------------------------------------------
Key: FELIX-693
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FELIX-693
Project: Felix
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: Bundle Repository (OBR)
Reporter: michael hampel
Priority: Minor
The ResolverImpl.deploy() method catches all Exceptions that might occur when installing or starting a bundle
in an OSGi runtime, logs the error condition and then returns.
Therefore it is not easily possible for calling code to do an application specific error handling.

Felix Meschberger commented on FELIX-693:
-----------------------------------------
As I wrote in a comment to FELIX-701, I also think, that just returning half way down the road is probably not the best to be done.
But then, how do you think should the problem(s) be reported ? Have the exception being thrown. Interestingly the Resolver.deploy(boolean) method is defined to neither return a result nor throw a checked exception -- of course an unchecked exception might be thrown, but I am somewhat at unease with this....
