+ 1.

Thanks Saminda for volunteering to change [1] to have 4 tusks and 7 trunks
:). May be you can have the elephant to run experiments on Airavata using
XSEDE 15 tutorial, the elephant can draw airavata instead of a plain
elephant :)

Thanks Nipurn for enlightening us with the details. :)

I always thought the simpler the logo looks the better it fits with even
along with more elaborate surroundings. For example I like the less details
version of the elephant drawing such as [1][2] (consider a non profile as
well) which IMO looks nicer since you loose less clarity when
zoomed-in/out, it would very minimally clash with other diagrams or logos
sitting along side it and additionally (if we feel exuberant) we have the
freedom to decorate it for different occasions/products/services by theming
it without much loss in clarity. just my 2 cents.

Re: Airavata logos

If I am allowed to answer everybody's questions, I think we are looking at
facelifting the Airavata project. This will also include redesigning
airavata.apache.org being on the roadmap. We have been working on building
future focused PGA, Seagrid, IUCybergateway etc., with Airavata, so we are
moving fast on porting Airavata backend to multiple portals to help more
and more scientists and thus are working on graphics and improving user
experiences in parallel. So, here, logos are just a part of the whole
bigger process.

I hope that answers some questions ( and brings up some more in as well. :)

changing ? Are we planing to change the name too :) ?

Any pointers to adorable elephants, which might help the designer get
ideas? I am personally not particular to retain elephants and fine with
anything pleasing and will help establish Airavata name.

Yep those looked creepy. And all the elephants look like they are sort of
frowning (not that the current one looks adorable). If we are sticking with
an elephant in the logo might I suggest giving a more gentler facelift? :)
(not the one like in hadoop logo though)

Just curious, any particular reason why we need to change existing logos ?

Out of the logos attached, I definitely dont like the 3-headed elephant
(logos in last column).
