Hello.
I encountered instabilities with AOO410 Writer on Windows Vista 32 bits.
After editing an odt document, AOO410 crashes very often when saving the
document. But saving was always OK before crash, and the modified document is
retrieved when restarting AOO410. Just annoying.
After many trials, it appears that AOO410 crashes at saving only after editing
equations.
I removed AOO410 and reinstalled AOO401: no crash at saving after editing
equations with AOO401.
Sorry, I can't provide the odt document I was working on because it was
confidential (text and equations). As I removed AOO410 from my PC and I have no
other PC to test AOO410, I can't do further tests with another document.
To reproduce this instability, build or read a short text document (less than 4
pages) with some equations. When modifying text and saving, all is OK. When
editing equations, AOO410 should crash very often when saving the document.

Using AOO 4.1.1 under Linux I can't confirm the crash. Maybe there are
inconsistencies in the user profile.
Have you tried it with a fresh user profile?

Thank you for the test on my document.
Indeed, it's very strange. My Vista seems to be clean (updated each month, and
always cleaned with CCleaner after each AOO uninstallation), and the problem
appeared at each AOO410 installation and disappeared after each re-installation
of AOO401.
As I need a stable release for my work, I will stay on AOO401 and wait for the
next release for further tests.

Hello.
Same crash at first document saving with new release AOO411:
1- open the document,
2- double click on last equation,
3- add space then backspace at the end of the equation,
4- click anywhere on the document to close the equation editor,
5- save the document: crash !
6- click OK: AOO restarts and reopens the document.
Restart the test from step 2: no more crash when saving after equation
modification!

I did the following:
- new text document
- insert some text
- place cursor somewhere in the text
- insert formula (Menu Insert - Object - Formula
- fill formula with "A+B"
- finish formula editing by clicking into the document's text
- save
- edit formula by double-click on formula
- add "+C" to formula
- finish formula editing
- save
--> no crash
Until now, I am not able to reproduce the described crash.

Before installing AOO411, I unstalled AOO401, I removed the user profile and
all remaining files in "Program Files", then I cleaned the registry with
CCleaner. So AOO411 starts with a fresh profile. I did the same thing when
trying AOO410.
I performed this test many times, and each time AOO411 crashes at the first
document saving after equation edition. I had the same crashes when I tried
AOO410.
But there is no problem with AOO401 and with LibO416.
As nobody can reproduce the crash on other OS, the problem with AOO410/411
seems linked to Vista 32 bits.

This bug is irreproducible by other users on Vista.
Maybe something is missing or something is not compatible with AOO411 on my
Vista, but I am unable to have a diagnostic when the only message is
"Unexpected error" when AOO crashes.
I solved my problem by removing AOO411 and switching definitely to LibreOffice.
Consider this issue is solved although it is not.

I tested with the given sample document and the given steps on my Windows 7
(64bit) with AOO 4.1.0. Unfortunately, I could not reproduce a crash.
May be the defect is depending on the system - Windows Vista.

odt document with equations that crashes after saving
Hello.
I have re-installed AOO410 and made some tests with the new short document I
has attached.
To reproduce the crash:
- Start AOO410
- Open the document
- double-click on the last equation
- in the equation editor, add a space at the end of the equation, then
backspace, and click in the document to close the equation editor.
- save the document
AOO410 crashes with "unexpected error" message and proposes to retrieve the
document.
- Click OK: AOO410 restarts automatically and reopen the document.
- try to modify again the last equation and save the document: no crash, now
all is OK! You can modify again the equation and all is OK!
Close AOO410 and restart AOO410, and do the same steps as above: there is
always a crash when saving the document after the first equation modification,
and no crash after AOO410 has restarted automatically!
I removed again AOO410 and reinstalled AOO401: all is always OK, no crash with
AOO401.
