Nigel Daley commented on HADOOP-3983:
-------------------------------------
Until this is fixed, Owen has added these lines to the HowToRelease wiki:
export CFLAGS=-m32
export CXXFLAGS=-m32
(do 32 bit build)
export CFLAGS=-m64
export CXXFLAGS=-m64
(do 64 bit build)
> compile-c++ should honor the jvm size in compiling the c++ code

> The build scripts for compile-c++ and compile-c++ -examples should honor the word size of the jvm, since it is in the platform name. Currently, the platform names are "Linux-amd64-64" or "Linux-i386-32", but the C++ is always compiled in the platform default size.
