[jira] [Updated] (HBASE-12987) HBCK should print status while
scanning over many regions
Josh Elser updated HBASE-12987:
-------------------------------
Attachment: hbck-output.txt
HBASE-12987-master.patch
First stab at some extra output. Tried to find what were the "expensive" things to compute, ensuring a log message before running that check (for the summary case) and also using the {{progress()}} built into the ErrorReporter for the non-summary case.
I can't make up my mind if the minimal things I added are sufficient for the summary case or if the verbosity in the non-summary case is now too much. I defer to you all who have opinions :).
To get a feeling, I made a few tables with 5k regions. Attached the output from running {{hbase hbck}} and {{hbase hbck -summary}} to outline things.

> Running simple commands like hbck -summary on a large table can take some time. We should print some information to let it be known how things are progressing.
