Cocoon and MySQL databases: Working Versions
Just to let everyone know what works - for future reference
- Apache Tomcat 4.0
- Cocoon 2.0.4.
- mysql-connector-java-3.0.8-stable-bin.jar
- excalibur-datasource-1.1.1.jar
- j2sdk1.4.1_01

We had the same problem (not with MySQL).
Problem is that the excalibur-datasource-vm12-20021121.jar distributed with Cocoon2 does not contain the Jdbc3Connection class, which it should.
Download the correct version from http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-avalon/release/excalibur/
If you can't find the specific jar, let me know, I have a working version here so I can mail it to you directly.

What happens if you put the mysql jar in WEB-INF\lib? Also, is this a
binary version of 2.0.4 or did you build from source?
