   I found out, that in my case, using
   
   ```
   document.addEventListener('backbutton', function(event){
      onBackKeyDown() 
   }, false);
   ```
   works on Android 9, while
   
   `document.addEventListener('backbutton', onBackKeyDown, false);`
   
   does not.
   I have no explanation for this behaviour, but maybe it helps someone.
