Introduction

Hello,

I'm new, and I'd like to introduce myself. I'm a 38 yr old Australian
living in Europe, and keen to help out with documentation for OpenOffice.

For the past 5 years I've been a technical writer and language trainer here
in Europe. (primarily a medical writer, but wishing to move more into
software now).

I've worked a little bit with Atlassian software (confluence), and I'm
comfortable writing step-by-step how-to guides with images. I use os x
primarily, however I'd like to dual boot windows so I can write
documentation on the windows side too, eventually.

Hobby is programming, mainly C.

All advice welcome. Look forward to hearing from you. Hope I can help.

Best,
Michael Cullen

Michael;
First let me apologize for the lateness of this response. The
documentation list has been very quiet and I have had personal things
that have kept me from being as active as I would like.

The documentation effort has been stalled for a while now or a myriad of
reasons. I intend to try and restart the effort with a message to the
list in the next few days.

Your experience as a technical writer will be of great value as we do
not have any active members with that experience. We do use Confluence
(CWiki) for a few things, mostly our Release Notes, but most of our
Documentation work is done on our MediaWike (MWiki)site.

The major project is to finish the User Guide that is currently on the
MWiki. The best starting place if you have not done it is to read the
Orientation Guide that can be found here:
http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/intro-doc.html. Once you have
done that and have signed up for the wiki accounts, you can take a look
at where we are currently with the Guide here:
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/UserGuide

I look forward to working with you on this important piece of Apache
Open Office.

Regards
Keith N. McKenna
