   The rtttl-c repository clone from git.sr.ht frequently times out in CI environments (e.g. GitHub Actions Azure runners) due to SourceHut anti-DDoS mitigations and smart-HTTP negotiation latency.
   
   Replace the git clone invocation with curl downloading the release tarball, including retry logic and connection timeouts, followed by archive extraction and sha256 checksum verification. Update .gitignore and distclean accordingly.
