   Hmmm fairly certain this is a packaging issue and some kind of class mismatch between hudi's hive and spark's hive? 
   
   Our docker setup uses spark 2.3 with Hive 2.x and does all that you are doing.. So if I have to guess, I think it may be due to Hive 1.x? are you able to quickly retest with Hive 2.x?
