HTTP error 503. Please please help !

Hi
I have installed Tomcat 4.01 but cannot access any JSP pages.  When I try I receive HTTP error 503 saying the jsp service is  not available.
I've read one or two queries like this on the mailing list but haven't seen any replies that solve the problem.
Can anyone help me please ?
