[jira] Commented: (MNG-518) InvalidArtifactRTException exception should be more precise
[ http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-518?page=comments#action_43253 ]
Brett Porter commented on MNG-518:
----------------------------------
to elaborate, I have cross checked all calls to artifact construction and within the core the code paths all go through the project builder and its validation routines.

> Here's what I get:
> org.apache.maven.artifact.InvalidArtifactRTException: For artifact {org.apache.maven.plugins:null:1.0-SNAPSHOT:jar}: The artifactI
> d cannot be empty.
> at org.apache.maven.artifact.DefaultArtifact.validateIdentity(DefaultArtifact.java:97)
> at org.apache.maven.artifact.DefaultArtifact.<init>(DefaultArtifact.java:85)
> There are 2 problems with this:
> 1/ If the artifactId is not specified there's no point in writing null in {org.apache.maven.plugins:null:1.0-SNAPSHOT:jar}. I'd rather that the full location of the pom.xml file be specified
> 2/ It seems that the problem does not come from my plugin but rather from one of its dependency. It would be nice to know which one...
