[jira] [Commented] (LEGAL-372) Categorize Open Grid Forum (OGF) license

Chris A. Mattmann commented on LEGAL-372:
-----------------------------------------

This looks like category-A to me. I will leave this open for two weeks to collect feedback from others. If there are no objections, then I will update the resolved.html page.

> The Apache Daffodil (incubating) project would like to include content from Open Grid Forum documents in our source tree (specifically the Data Format Description Language v1.0 at [http://daffodil.apache.org/docs/dfdl]). The OGF license that covers these documents is available here: [https://www.ogf.org/ogf/doku.php/about/copyright].
> Based on discussions in LEGAL-369, we believe this license is compatible with the Apache v2 license and is Category-A, but request an official ruling on this and that [https://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html] be updated based on the decision.

Re: [jira] [Commented] (LEGAL-372) Categorize Open Grid Forum (OGF) license

Posted by Stian Soiland-Reyes <st...@apache.org>.
I think +1, but we might want to add to the Resolved FAQ that the OGF
Document themselves (their pdf specifications) cannot be included under
CatA (they are subject to no-change restrictions), while the schemas and
source code derived from those are OK, as well as schemas retrieved from
OGF namespaces.

Some schema files at OGF namespaces might have outdated license text
headers (or none) in which case they should be fixed upstream through
notifying OGF.
