UTFDataFormatException: Invalid byte 2 of 3-byte UTF-8 sequence

I try to save an edited page but get this:
"RELAX NG Validation failed: java.io.UTFDataFormatException: Invalid byte 2 of
3-byte UTF-8 sequence."

What is that?

I am using 1.2RC2 on Windows 2000 with MSIE 6.0

Andreas

I tried that but:
"SAXParseException: The character reference must end with the ';'"

Even an additional ; at the end does not help.

Strange. I will move over to Linux and try there.

i am currently tracing an issue that manifested itself with the switch
to 2.1.4 (different encodings). i am not yet sure where things changed
w.r.t encoding in cocoon.

as a workaround, you can use numerical xml entities:

http://www.unicode.org/charts/case/chart_Latin.html

such as &#00E4; for ä (a umlaut)

Well, now I have corrected my error - but the problem persists.

Using other umlaut-sequences within the text using the One Form Editor I get
this:
"RELAX NG Validation failed: java.io.UTFDataFormatException: Invalid byte 1 of
1-byte UTF-8 sequence."
"RELAX NG Validation failed: java.io.UTFDataFormatException: Invalid byte 2 of
4-byte UTF-8 sequence."

If I use ü instead of ü I get another error:
"The entity 'uuml' was referenced, but not declared"

How do others use Lenya with German text?!

I noticed that according to Notepad the xsl files and the document files are in
ANSI format and not in UTF-8.

Cheers,
Andreas

The problem is a result of using Umlauts äöüÄÖÜß and an incorrect encoding. It
is not a result of a Lenya bug.
