[jira] [Created] (INFRA-6744) URL Encoding Not Friendly With Chrome

James Carman created INFRA-6744:
-----------------------------------

Summary: URL Encoding Not Friendly With Chrome
                 Key: INFRA-6744
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-6744
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Mail Archives
Environment: Chrome Browser on OS X
            Reporter: James Carman

When using mail-search.apache.org, I found a link:

https://mail-search.apache.org/private-arch/incubator-ambari-private/201309.mbox/%3CCE5361DF.2B84B%smohanty@hortonworks.com%3E

When I access that URL in Chrome, I get a bad request. When I access it in Safari, it automatically translates the URL to:

https://mail-search.apache.org/members/private-arch/incubator-ambari-private/201309.mbox/%3cCE5361DF.2B84B%25smohanty@hortonworks.com%3e

Notice the %s -> %25s. Perhaps we could do a better job encoding the URLs up front so that we help out Chrome.
