Don't be shy, commit away! (You know it can't break any code,
either. :-) ).

I changed it on my local copy, but thought I would ask before committing
it. I agree about the AUTHORS file thing. I'll see if I can think of a
way to get them to match better.

I just said it wasn't optimal for that reason, not that it can't make it
in. We respond to public pressure. =)

Next version of ViewCVS will have this feature. Many people have asked for
it, so it'll go in. Of course, cvsweb isn't maintained software, so who
knows if/when you'd ever get it.
[ I'll be doing exactly what Jim said: rev=HEAD in the URL ]

Brian refuses to use ViewCVS because "it introduces another language into
SourceCast, so it makes it hard for us to maintain." Fine. It also means
that he'll never see any improvements since cvsweb is effectively
unmaintained (and unmaintable, if you ever try to change it; and I'm not
talking just because it is Perl... it is horrible software).

Oh, was that a jab at Brian for making a senseless decision? :-)

Cheers,

I tried to do that too a while back, and had the same experience. :-(

Anyone?

If you leave the minor revisions off (i.e. use x for x.y.z), you at least
get the latest revision of that major verion.

Could you make the "members" link point to something in CVSweb that
would show the latest version of AUTHORS?

I tried to find such a URL, but it seems that CVSweb always wants to
give me either the log file, or a specific revision. I can't ask for
rev=HEAD.  :(

Not only that, you have commit access on it. :-)
(It would be nice for that section to go away, though, or somehow
point to the AUTHORS file.)
