Generic connector and authority

For ManifoldCF 2.0, one of the major themes is "less is more". I'm looking
therefore to get rid of connectors that have no users in the community. Is
anyone out there using the generic authority and connector at this time?

Hi Karl,

No, I don't have. And I've not used these connector yet, although I like the idea these connector have.

Do you ask users in user mailing list?

Hi Abe-san,

Moving connectors to "legacy" is possible but since there is a dependency
on the framework, such connectors will become unusable pretty quickly. So
what I am looking for mostly is: does the connector have customers, and if
not, is there anyone still willing to maintain the connector?

MetaCarta GTS is in fact still used (at least it was at the beginning of
2014) by the current owners of MetaCarta. They generally do not post to
lists, though. So I believe this one should stay.

Memex is already gone, at their own request.

Meridio is harder to figure out, since I don't know the current customer
status at MetaCarta. The big problem with Meridio is that it requires a
server-side plugin which we don't have the source code for. I am pretty
sure that plugin is out of date by now. Since noibody has complained, it's
a good guess that nobody is using the connector. But I've been maintaining
it nevertheless. I'll let you know.

Do you have any opinion about the Generic connector and authority? The
reason I asked was because I knew of no customers, and because Maciej (the
original contributor) was no longer maintaining it.

Hi Karl,

+1 for "less is more".

I'd like to get rid of connectors which is probably unused.

Another connector candidates
about which there are not emails to ask questions, share knowledge, and discuss issues
in user mailing list for years:

-MetaCarta GTS
-Memex
-Meridio

We could move these connectors to https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/manifoldcf/legacy/
