Podling Report Reminder - November 2016

Dear podling,

This email was sent by an automated system on behalf of the Apache
Incubator PMC. It is an initial reminder to give you plenty of time to
prepare your quarterly board report.

The board meeting is scheduled for Wed, 16 November 2016, 10:30 am PDT.
The report for your podling will form a part of the Incubator PMC
report. The Incubator PMC requires your report to be submitted 2 weeks
before the board meeting, to allow sufficient time for review and
submission (Wed, November 02).

Please submit your report with sufficient time to allow the Incubator
PMC, and subsequently board members to review and digest. Again, the
very latest you should submit your report is 2 weeks prior to the board
meeting.

Thanks,

The Apache Incubator PMC

Submitting your Report

----------------------

Your report should contain the following:

*   Your project name
* A brief description of your project, which assumes no knowledge of
the project or necessarily of its field
* A list of the three most important issues to address in the move
    towards graduation.
* Any issues that the Incubator PMC or ASF Board might wish/need to be
    aware of
* How has the community developed since the last report
* How has the project developed since the last report.

This should be appended to the Incubator Wiki page at:

http://wiki.apache.org/incubator/November2016

Note: This is manually populated. You may need to wait a little before
this page is created from a template.

Mentors
-------

Mentors should review reports for their project(s) and sign them off on
the Incubator wiki page. Signing off reports shows that you are
following the project - projects that are not signed may raise alarms
for the Incubator PMC.

report [1] looks good to me.
Feel free to add more bullets to the important issues list.

The first bullet has to do with IP clearance. Maybe we should add to the list that we are working on that and still have open questions about/working on the code grant?

We also already got a JIRA https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS
Not sure how detailed we should go into mentioning how we like to treat handling of old tickets from the nb bugzilla?

But in general it's better to add more points than being too brief.
Think about it as a high level todo list. The board reads it and knows what points are in front of us before we can graduate.
Of course we should not go into too much detail, but briefly mentioning big tasks is good imo.

txs and LieGrue,
strub

We can, it's just a matter for Wade to subscribe to the list, we will
moderate him in as soon as we receive the moderation request.

@Wade, you should be part of private@netbeans.incubator.apache.org. If not,
I believe Geertjan or a mentor could add you there.

Although I don't remember this podling report being discussed before.

All

What is the plan for these reports in the interim? Are they to be filled
out by the PPMC or the community or discussed here and filled in as a
group? This has some suggestions
http://incubator.apache.org/guides/ppmc.html It also says the PPMC is
initially the mentors and initial commiters, and references a private email
list. Are the initial commiters (including myself) on the list? That list
doesn't seem accessible through lists.apache.org, at least I can not see
it, and I haven't seen any messages for it. Are any discussions happening
there?

Thanks

Wade
