Is there any docs for Database descriptor files

Can anyone point me to some documentation on the AbstractDatabaseAction
descriptor files?

The javadoc (for DatabaseAddAction) says the descriptor format "is in a
state of flux", but, I can't find anything that actually describes it
(or the tags) in its current "flux".
