   guess we need variables for versions to ensure we can upgrade them all at once (thinking to surefire for ex).
   
   open question: do we want some helpers to do that, seems a small DSL can simplify the definition and making it easy to define from a project itself would be neat and match modern builds (with frontend for ex) it would be really nice to make it easier IMHO. (can be a follow up issue but think it is worse thinking about)
