Okay, I've looked at this briefly. It is easy enough to do once I've
worked out how do create an external (in the same dir as an existing one).
The problem I have is that these to files:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/gump/metadata/project/cocoon/
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/cocoon/trunk/gump.xml
Are actually quite different. Is that because ours has just developed,
and gumps has stayed the same, or has Gump's developed too?
Can someone create a file (either will be fine) that is the correct
latest? I'll then create the necessary external to fix this.
Otherwise, I'll try to work it out using SVN history tomorrow.
Regards, Upayavira
P.S. When I get this done, can I have my donut?

The last time I had a look at both they have not been that different.

Yes, I can do this. Unfortunately SVN seems to be down at the moment.

Yes, it has.

Gump's is now a merged version, I had to tweak a few things and rename
portals-bridges-common.
I also had to add project descriptors for portals-pluto and
portals-bridges (which should have been there anyway). It will take a
few Gump runs to make the portals-bridges descriptor work, so Cocoon
will drop to prereq failed state. If anybody more familiar with Maven
than I am wants to lend a hand, you are welcome.
Cheers

Oops. clicked send to soon.
Thanks Vadim for checking, it seems to have worked now.

Fab. That means it has worked. I've removed the gump.xml file, and
changed build.properties to point to the new src/gump/module.xml file.
That means that now, Gump and Cocoon now share their gump descriptor.
So, does that mean I can have my donut now?

I just updated a minute ago and got
Fetching external item into 'src\gump'
A src\gump\module.xml
Updated external to revision 289588.

that's what I thought, but svn commit didn't show much to commit -
actually, this time I saw "_M src", cryptic, but the _ must be referring
to the properties.

external is a property - please commit it

Seems like it might be okay anyway.
I've created an external in trunk/src/gump, which has just module.xml in
it (our gump.xml).
Do I need to commit this external, or is it already set up for others?
If the external is working, all it now takes to switch is to change the
gump.descriptor in build.properties to src/gump/module.xml instead of
gump.xml.
Can someone confirm whether the external is present? i.e. do a checkout
and tell me if you can see src/gump/module.xml.

If you don't want to wait for me if SVN is up again you can probably
start here:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=xml-cocoon-cvs&m=112212114221019&w=4. At
that point the both files should be really similar or even equal.
